SOCIAL GOOD
We're grateful for our clients and the exciting work we do (if you are one of them, thank you!) but we're also conscious that there are incredible people out there who are changing lives for the better, but who may not have access to budgets, who don't take salaries and if they do, they're minimal. We have a social responsibility to leave the world and the people in it better than we found them and so our #payitforward initiative was created when we launched in 2018.
Every year we work with up to four organisations, free of charge. So far, we've delivered pro bono workshops, talks and events to schools, universities, mentoring programmes, charities, NGOs, and non-profits. We're particularly supportive of careers education, future leaders, and women-led initiatives, but we are open to everyone. #StopUndersellingYourself
In 2021, our founder Sallee Poinsette-Nash set herself a very public 12-month challenge to reach and encourage one million to stop underselling themselves in response to the knock-on effect the pandemic was having on people. Self-worth was disappearing with jobs, confidence was taking a hit after multiple unsuccessful interviews and mental health was being compromised by what seemed like an endless stream of fear-fuelled media coverage. We ran pro bono events, shared content and partnered with organisations to share this important message. The goal was positive impact (not profit) so we included #stopundersellingyourself as one of our #payitforward projects and all events, content and output were delivered free of charge. Here's how we got on...

MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS
JANUARY
We're off to a flying start
- Events: Kindred, BCG, Enterprise Nation and Rise
- Podcast: Notes on Vulnerability
- Highlights: The Macmillan Dictionary contained the reference "Many women have a tendency to undersell themselves in job interviews", which lit a fire in our founder! She took to social media, the phones, email and within 24 hours (on 28.01.2021) received confirmation that the Macmillan Dictionary will remove the reference asap. Progress!
- Reach: 118,402 with 881,598 remaining
FEBRUARY
Feel the #stopundersellingyourself love!
- Events: General Assembly and Warwick University / Warwick Law Society (Warwick Law Summit)
- Content: Juggle, Speak Out Revolution and UnLtd
- Highlights: General Assembly kindly offered to add the #stopundersellingyourself event to their [Press Play] platform with online sessions for the Edinburgh, London, Manchester and Paris Campus. Playback will remain available for people to watch and continue to help us reach the one million target
- Reach: 151,890 with 729,708 to go
MARCH
We've got a spring in our step
- Events: Startups Magazine, Rise Up and UnLtd
- Highlights: The 2021 International Women's Day theme is 'Choose to Challenge'. We #choose to challenge any woman who continues to undersell herself, her abilities, or her career. Society, the world of work and life in general will throw up enough obstacles without you adding to it and getting in your own way. 2021 is not only the year to choose to challenge, but also the year to #stopundersellingyourself
- Reach: 63,969 with 665,739 remaining
APRIL
Egg-cited to be nearing the half a million mark
- Events: I Like Networking, Startups Magazine, Rise Up and UnLtd
- Highlights: We ran a #stopundersellingyourself event for creatives over at ILN and 100 places were snapped up in record time so we'll be back by popular demand in June to ensure that no-one misses out.
- Reach: 67,944 with 597,795 to go
MAY
We made it past the halfway point
- Events: Rise Up and UnLtd
- Highlights: We are over halfway towards our one million people target! What felt like an overwhelming goal in January, now feels do-able and it's a great feeling knowing that we're doing our bit to positively impact people's lives, careers and confidence.
- Reach: 115,508 with 482,287 remaining
JUNE
What a month!
- Events: KTN, Women in Film & TV (WFTV) and I like Networking (back by popular demand!)
- Highlights: This was a huge month with great results and a #StopUndersellingYourself even got a mention on The Self-Aware Entrepreneur Show, where Sallee chatted with Lee Chambers. Watch the playback here
- Reach: 346,010 with 136,277 remaining

DESMOND TUTUJULY & AUGUST
...and pause!
- We will be pausing #stopundersellingyourself activity in July and August, before giving it a final push from September to December to reach that one million people goal!
- It's summer, the lockdowns are easing in the UK and it's time to enjoy some time out to recharge and reset. We'll be back in September, starting with a #StopUndersellingYourself event in collaboration with UnderPinned

SEPTEMBER
We're not stopping here
- We've hit our one million target and we're still going!
- September saw mentions from KTN and Innovate UK having a positive impact on the reach of this campaign
- A big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us to get to our one million people milestone. It's amazing what you can achieve when you set yourself big goals and surround yourself with good people!
- We delivered a #StopUnderSellingYourself event for the lovely freelancer community at UnderPinned

OCTOBER - DECEMBER
Drumroll please
- We've hit the target, but are continuing with the initiative until the 31stDecember 2021 as planned
- October: thanks to Found & Flourish, Enterprise Nation X TSB we've now reached 1,099,449
- November: thanks to WFTV, Startups Magazine, Rise and others continuing to spread the word we've now reached: 1,317,724
